Impaired, Unlicensed Driver in Stolen Truck Charged Following Multiple Hit and Runs

Region of Peel – Road Safety Services have charged a man with several offences following a string of hit-and-run collisions in Mississauga.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, several calls were placed to 9-1-1, reporting a pickup truck driving erratically near Dixie Road and the QEW.  Patrol officers responded to the area immediately and observed the truck driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Dixie Road.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle a black Ford F-250; however, the driver refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. The driver was seen driving on the sidewalk and collided with several other vehicles and, at times, traveling more than twice the posted speed limit.

Due to the significant risk posed to the public by this individual, officers gave chase. The suspect struck a pole soon after, rendering his vehicle inoperable. The suspect attempted to carjack another motorist to flee but was immediately apprehended by officers. Fortunately, no serious injuries were sustained by the other motorists.

It was later discovered that the truck the suspect was operating was stolen and equipped with counterfeit plates. It is believed that the suspect was under the influence of drugs.

As a result, 39-year-old Gary Walker of no fixed address was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing for the following criminal offences:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Operation While Impaired by Drugs
  • Robbery
  • Property Obtained by Crime
  • Public Mischief
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Failure to Stop After Accident

Gary Walker is unlicensed and subject of nine separate provincial driving prohibitions dating back to 2003. He has been convicted on numerous occasions for driving while impaired and driving while suspended. He is currently subject to Canada-wide driving prohibition which has been in place since 2012. Bail was denied and he remains in custody.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and witnesses and are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to call the Peel Regional Police Road Safety Services Bureau at 905-453-2121 extension 3750.
