Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop; 30 Guns Removed From Peel Streets This Year

Region of Peel – Officers from 12 Division’s Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) seized an illegal firearm during a stop in Mississauga.

On March 15, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers investigated a vehicle for a Cannabis Act offence near Derry Road East and Goreway Drive. During the investigation, officers located a loaded illegal handgun. 

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing for the following:

Keion Bynoe, a 21-year-old man from Brampton is charged with:

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Posession of a Loaded Prohbited or Restricted Firearm
    Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm

Elizabeth Akua Frimpomaa, a 20-year-old woman from Mississauga is charged with:

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Posession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
