Firearm Seized and Arrest made in an Investigation

Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged an individual in relation to an intimate partner violence investigation.
On April 15, 2025, the accused allegedly used a firearm during an intimate partner violence incident. A search warrant was executed on the accused’s residence and vehicle where investigators located a 9MM handgun along with drugs.
Muhammad Asif, a 29-year-old man from Mississauga was charged with several Criminal Code offences:
- Utter Threats
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order x2
- Possession for the Purpose – Schedule 1 Heroin
- Possession for the Purpose – Schedule 1 Cocaine x2
- Possession for the Purpose – Opioid x2
- Possession for the Purpose – MDMA
Asif was later identified as a suspect in a kidnapping and attempted murder investigation conducted by the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau that occurred on March 9 in the area of Burnhamthorpe Road West and Mavis Road in Mississauga. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued.
On June 2, 2025, Asif was re-arrested by investigators and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Kidnapping
- Attempted Murder
He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently returned to custody while he awaits trial.
