Charges Laid In Unauthorized Marihuana Dispensary
Region of Peel– The Peel Regional Police Vice, Narcotics and Street Level Organized Crime Unit along with partner agency Brampton By-Law Enforcement, commenced an investigation in April of 2020 into an illicit dispensary operating on Queen Street East, in the City of Brampton. On Tuesday, April 21,2020 at approximately 12:30pm officers from both agencies executed a search warrant at the location.
Four individuals were charged under the 2017 Cannabis Control Act for “Unlawfully Selling Cannabis Other Than Authorized Dealer.” and the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for “Failing to comply with an order made during emergency - Operating a non essential business”.
Officers seized 3.3 kilograms of marihuana along with several other Cannabis related products that were packaged and ready for sale. The charged individuals will be attending the Provincial Offences Court in June 2020.
Police would like to remind the public that there is currently 1 authorized cannabis store front retailer in the Region of Peel, which is located in the area of Main Street South and Nanwood Drive in the City of Brampton. Any other individuals or storefront locations selling cannabis are committing Provincial and Federal offences.
