Charges Laid in “Buy and Sell” Attempted Carjacking

Region of Peel – The Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau (C.R.B) has charged a man responsible for an armed robbery during a buy and sell exchange in Mississauga.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the victim arranged to meet an individual in the area of Tomken Road and Bloor Street East to sell their vehicle, which they posted online for sale.

Upon arrival at the pre-determined location, the victim was confronted by two people, both brandishing knives while making demands for the victim’s vehicle. After a brief struggle, both culprits fled the area on foot. Fortunately, the victim was not physically injured.

A quick and coordinated response by 12 Division patrol officers alongside Tactical officers resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects. The other suspect remains outstanding at this time.

Borhan RADWAN, 37 years old from Mississauga, has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief over $5000

Borhan was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Officers would like to remind individuals selling property online that buy&sell exchange zones can be found at Peel Regional Police facilities that are well-lit and under CCTV surveillance. Please ensure, when choosing a location to meet with a buyer, that it is a place you are familiar with.
