Charges Laid After Police Facilities Defaced

Region of Peel– Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have identified and charged three people for defacing police facilities in Mississauga during two separate protests.

On Friday, December 11, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a group of protestors attended outside the 11 Division police facility, located at 3030 Erin Mills Parkway in the City of Mississauga, to participate in a demonstration.

Peel Regional Police were aware that the protest was going to take place and made plans to create space for the participants to gather. During the demonstration, several attendees threw a paint-like substance, defacing the facility and surrounding exterior grounds, resulting in a mischief to property.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old man from Mississauga, a 50-year-old man from Brampton, and a 34-year old woman from Mississauga were each charged with one count of Mischief Over $5000. The 34-year old woman from Mississauga was additionally charged with a second count of Mischief Over $5000 as a result of defacing a Police Memorial Monument in Mississauga on December 19, 2020. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on March 5, 2021.
