Brampton Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Shooting
Region of Peel – Officers from the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) have arrested and charged a man following a shooting in Brampton.
On Monday, April 6, at approximately 11:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible carjacking in the area of Central Park Drive and Glenvale Boulevard. It was reported that two suspects attempted to carjack a vehicle with two occupants. The victims were able to flee in the vehicle.
Following a foot pursuit, a male suspect was arrested. During the arrest, the suspect was found to have a loaded illegal firearm in his possession, which was capable of automatic fire.
The second suspect is still outstanding. He is described as a Black male, wearing dark clothing.
It was determined that the victims, both males in their 20s, were shot during the incident, one male sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and one male remains in critical condition.
Naesean Okoko, 19, of Brampton, has been arrested and held pending a bail hearing on the following charges:
- Attempt Murder using Firearm
- Aggravated Assault
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized X2
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of Opioid
