Before You Take A Ride, Be Satisfied

Watch Now

Are you saying yes to quick and easy transit without having to wait for the bus? Are you saying hello to ridesharing when you don’t have the means to drive yourself?

Rideshare has quickly become the go-to form of transportation. With no exchange of money, you can simply jump in and away you go. WAIT! This is where we need to slow things down; getting into the first car that stops when you’re waiting outside could spell disaster, putting yourself into an unsafe situation.

There is no need to be left sitting in the backseat of a car wondering if it’s the correct vehicle, or in the passenger’s seat with the driver suddenly feeling too close for comfort.

We’ll review a few tips to help make your travels as safe as possible.

Before Entering the Vehicle:

  1. Share your travel details with a friend or family member.
  2. Know and confirm your driver’s name and car details (licence plate and car type).
  3. Ask the driver who the vehicle is for and where it is going. DO NOT begin with “is this vehicle for…”

Inside the Vehicle:

  1. Select to sit in the backseat.
  2. Stay alert and aware of your surroundings- Track your route.
  3. Keep your personal information private.

Lastly, if you have not ordered a Rideshare DO NOT accept rides from drivers claiming to be a part of the program. While these tips are good reminders of what you can do to keep yourself safe, do not hesitate to call 911 should you feel threatened.

Now when you say yes to Rideshare you’ll be keeping your safety at the top of list!
