Assistance Sought in Identifying Suspect in Hate Crime Investigation

Region of Peel– Investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau are seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect in relation to a hate crime investigation.

On Thursday, January 30, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m. police received a call from the victim, a 35-year-old woman from Toronto, that a man is yelling racial comments and threats in a parking lot in the area of Mavis Road and Britannia Road in the City of Mississauga. The victim suffered no physical injuries.

The suspect is described as male, white, in his 40’s wearing a black hooded sweater, a black t-shirt and a black baseball hat.

He was operating a silver 2-door Honda with rear non-Ontario license plate bearing *284888*.

This man is also suspected of being involved in two similar incidents, occurring earlier that evening, in the City of Brampton. These incidents took place in two separate plazas on Hurontario Street between Ray Lawson Boulevard and Steeles Avenue West  from 7:10 p.m.-7:40 p.m. In both incidents, the suspect is reported to have caused a disturbance by yelling racial slurs at people in the area.
