Arrests Made in Multiple Carjacking Investigations

Region of Peel – Investigators with the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged three males in relation to multiple carjackings in the Region of Peel.

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a suspect vehicle occupied by masked individuals intentionally struck the rear of a newer-model BMW SUV in the area of Humberwest Parkway and Queen Street East in Brampton. The victim exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot. The victim’s vehicle was later located by police damaged and unoccupied.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, at approximately 5:20 p.m., a second incident occurred in the area of Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive in Mississauga. A victim was approached by three suspects brandishing a knife. Fearing for his safety, the victim surrendered the keys to his vehicle, which the suspects used to flee the area. The stolen vehicle was later involved in a collision on Highway 403. The suspects were then observed getting into the vehicle used in the first carjacking.

On Monday, Dec. 15, at approximately 5 p.m., officers observed the suspect vehicle in the area of Dundas Street West and Winston Churchill Boulevard in Mississauga. The occupants were wearing masks and gloves. Officers from the Central Robbery Bureau, with assistance from the K9 and Tactical Units, arrested the occupants, preventing a further violent carjacking from occurring.

Tayvien Coley, 18, of Toronto has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence – Robbery
  • Wear Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

A 16-year-old young person, of Brampton, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence – Robbery
  • Wear Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

A 16-year-old young person, of Mississauga, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence – Robbery
  • Wear Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the identity of the young persons charged in this investigation is protected and cannot be released.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in Mississauga where offence-related property was located and seized.
