Arrests Made in High End Vehicle Theft Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau Auto Theft Unit have arrested multiple individuals in connection to a series of high-end vehicle thefts and break-and-enters across the Greater Toronto Area.
Over the summer, Auto Theft Detectives began investigating a group of individuals responsible for vehicle thefts and nighttime break-ins in Peel and Toronto. Investigators connected these individuals to 13 high-end motor vehicle thefts with an estimated value of over $1.5 million.
Through Project Chicago and Project Blue Streak, Investigators executed four Criminal Code search warrants at residences in Peel, Toronto, and Alliston. They recovered multiple vehicles as well as illegal firearms and magazines. One of the firearms was converted to full auto and had a high capacity drum magazine.
The following individuals were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Cody Watts, a 22-year-old from Toronto, is charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (X3)
- Possession of Loaded Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited Device
Brandyn Hunter, a 28-year-old from Toronto, is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Savannah Chaves, a 24-year-old from Cambridge, is charged with:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
This remains an active investigation and investigators anticipate further arrests and charges.
