Arrests Made after Home Invasion and Carjacking Robberies

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged four young persons in relation to two home invasion robberies that occurred in Brampton.

It is alleged that on October 10, 2023, four suspects forced entry into a home near Williams Parkway and Creditview Road in Brampton. While inside, the suspects encountered the homeowner (victim) and demanded the car keys for a vehicle parked in the driveway. The suspects sprayed an unknown substance at the victim and stole the victim's vehicle from the driveway. The victim sustained minor physical injuries.

It is further alleged that on October 12, 2023, the same suspects attended another residence in the same area of Brampton and gained access to the house using force. Once inside, they encountered the homeowner and made demands for the keys to the vehicle in the driveway. The suspects were unsuccessful in obtaining any property and fled to a nearby vehicle determined later to have been stolen. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

As a result of the quick and coordinated efforts of investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau and Tactical Unit, as well as assistance from the Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF), all four suspects were located inside a stolen vehicle in the area of Brandon Gate Drive and Keenan Crescent, in Mississauga. The suspects were arrested, and property related to both invasions, including a metal pipe and two canisters of capsaicin-based spray were located and seized.

Three 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old male, all young persons from Brampton, were charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Robbery x2
  • Wearing a Disguise x2
  • Possession of Stolen Property

All four young persons were held for bail hearings in Brampton Court.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

As a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), local police services have combined resources and established a Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF) to further co-ordinate law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.

This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.

Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, and other external agencies, including Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.
