Arrest Made in Vehicle Break-In Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested and charged a man believed to be responsible for 48 vehicle break‑and‑enters in Mississauga.

In December 2025, Peel Regional Police received numerous reports of vehicle break-ins in the areas of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue, and Regents Terrace.

Following an extensive investigation, with support from the BEAR Unit (Break and Enter, Auto Response) and uniform patrol officers, 20-year-old Basil Ass’ad, of no fixed address, was arrested on Jan. 26, 2026. He has been charged with the following:

  • Mischief over $5,000 x48
  • Theft Over $5,000 x2
  • Theft Under $5,000 x5
  • Possession of Stolen property
  • Fraud Under $5,000

Ass’ad was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
