Arrest Made in Peel Regions 17th Homicide

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have made an arrest in the Region’s 17th murder of 2018.

On Friday August 10, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm, police responded to an altercation in the area of Hillcrest Avenue and Hurontario Street in Mississauga. As a result of the incident, the victim was transported to hospital.

The victim, a 24 year old male from Mississauga, succumbed to his injuries.  At the request of his family, his name is not being released. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week where an official cause of death will be determined. 

On Saturday August 11, 2018 investigators from the Homicide Bureau formally charged Wladyslaw Habas with Second Degree Murder. Mr. Habas is a 66 year old male of no fixed address. He made a brief court appearance on August 11, 2018 and was remanded into custody until Monday August 13, 2018.

Investigators are satisfied that there are no outstanding suspects.
