Arrest Made in Incident that left Peel Officer Injured

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have arrested a youth involved in a dangerous driving incident in Mississauga .

On July 1, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., police attempted to stop a dirt bike that was driving erratically on the roadway near Eglington Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway. The operator was observed performing wheelies and other dangerous manoeuvres.

While trying to avoid police, the dirt bike made contact with a fully marked police cruiser.

A uniformed officer attempting to arrest the driver was struck and injured as the dirt bike fled at a high rate of speed, accelerating recklessly through the crowded roadway. The officer sustained serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

On Aug. 7, 2025, after an extensive investigation, officers from the Major Collision Bureau arrested and charged a youth with the following:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Cause Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident - Cause Bodily Harm

The youth was released on a promise to appear with conditions to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
