Arrest Made After Car Meet at Trinity Common Mall

Region of Peel – Officers from 21 Division have arrested and charged a man for dangerous driving related offences following a car meet at a plaza in Brampton.
On Friday, Aug. 16, at about 10 p.m., officers responded to reports of large gatherings and dangerous driving at Trinity Common Mall. Upon arrival, officers saw a white Dodge Challenger driving dangerously and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver tried to evade however officers were able to contain the vehicle preventing its escape and avoiding a pursuit. Once stopped, the driver abandoned the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody.
As a result, 21-year-old Ajaypreet Sidhu from Brampton has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Race a Motor Vehicle
- Unnecessary Noise
- No Muffler
- Obstruct Plate
- Drive Motor Vehicle- Not in Accordance with Emission Regulation
- Fail to Surrender License
- Public Nuisance
- Flight From Peace Officer
Sidhu was released on an undertaking with conditions to appear in court at a later date. His driver’s licence was also suspended and his vehicle impounded.
Officers will continue to conduct regular patrols at plazas across the region, including Trinity Common Mall. Residents may notice an increased police presence at times to ensure public safety. Unlawful activities – such as large unsanctioned gatherings, dangerous driving, public drinking, use of fireworks, and excessive noise – will not be tolerated.
