Appeal for Witnesses in Pedestrian Fatality

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in their investigation into a pedestrian fatality involving a dump truck in Mississauga.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a dump truck at Dixie Road and a private drive of the commercial plaza located south of Rathburn Road in Mississauga. The dump truck continued to travel northbound along Dixie Road after the collision.

The pedestrian, a 36 year-old male from Toronto, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He has since been identified as Clayton BARNARD.

The dump truck believed by investigators to be involved in this collision has been located and undergoing examination. The driver of the dump truck has also been identified.  At this point no charges have been laid however the investigation is continuing.   

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dashboard video footage of the incident or who may have any other information that could assist investigators.
