Appeal for Witnesses for a Fatal Fail to Remain Collision

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision bureau are seeking the public’s assistance with the investigation of a Fatal Fail to Remain Collision.

On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, shortly after 6 a.m. a collision occurred in the City of Brampton involving a cyclist and a utility trailer.

Preliminary investigation has led investigators to believe that the trailer became dislodged from the vehicle that was towing it and collided with the cyclist who succumbed to his injuries at the incident location.

The trailer in this incident was stolen from a local business just a short time before the collision occurred. Police have recovered surveillance video from the area and are looking for a white Nissan NV Cargo van.

The victim in this incident has been identified as Paul De Pledge, a 39 year-old man from Brampton.
