Always Check Local Weather- Safe Boating Awareness

Living in Canada the weather can be very unpredictable it could be warm and sunny in the morning and by the time you get off from work or school it’s cloudy and rainy. As Canadians we have trained ourselves to always be prepared, during the spring it usually means keeping an umbrella in the back of the car or during winter having a snow scrapper for those unexpected snow falls.

Just like checking the weather to determine if it’s a BBQ day, checking the weather before leaving the dock is crucial as it will determine if it’s safe and appropriate to be out on the water.

When you go out on a boat you want to ensure you have the best weather possible because who wants to be out on the water when it’s cold and windy? Nobody!

Sometimes you check the weather and it looks perfect and you get out on your boat and all of a sudden you notice the clouds darkening, volatile and rough changing winds or a sudden drop in temperature. In cases like these where the weather has changed unexpectedly it’s better to be safe than sorry and get to the dock as soon as possible.

You can check multiple weather sources to gather your weather details; another great source of information is your local radio stations or your own local weather app.
