A New Twist on an Old Tradition - Reverse Advent Calendar
It's better to give than to receive, and one of our Bureaus will give every single day leading up to the 25th. Our Corporate Communications Bureau is celebrating the season of giving by trading in our chocolate calendars for a new holiday tradition: The Reverse Advent Calendar.
Instead of opening a small window and taking a treat, the Reverse Advent Calendar requires us to give back to the community. Each day leading up to Christmas, a different item of food will be collected and added to a box for donation to a local food back. The items we have chosen for our calendar are considered “most needed” by local food banks. Our Reverse Advent Calendar includes: canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, soups, cereal, and other non-perishable items. On December 24, we will donate our overflowing box of food to a local food bank.
Here in the Region of Peel, hundreds of families rely on the support of food banks every day. The Mississauga Food Bank alone serves more than 200,000 meals per month, and the holidays are no exception. Start a new tradition in your home or workplace with the Reverse Advent Calendar and lend a hand to your neighbours in need.
