What Is Crime Stoppers?

Crime Stoppers is a partnership with the public, police and media which provides the community with a proactive program to anonymously assist in solving crime and contributing to an improved quality of life. Peel Crime Stoppers serves the areas of Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon and Pearson International Airport. It utilizes the investigative resources of Peel Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police - Caledon detachment and Canadian Border Services Agency, as well as other partners.

How to Submit a Tip
Call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip on the Peel Crime Stoppers website.
If you are a victim of a crime, report it directly to Peel Regional Police. If the incident is an emergency, call 9-1-1.
How Crime Stoppers Works
Your information will be taken in strict confidence. You never have to give your name.
What Does Peel Crime Stoppers do with the Tips?
Peel Crime Stoppers will forward the tip information to the appropriate police authorities. The Investigators will work hand-in-hand with the information, and will inform Peel Crime Stoppers on how the case is progressing.
Does Crime Stoppers Work?
Yes. Thousands of arrests have been made and substantial amounts of property and illegal drugs have been recovered.
The program has:
- Created a greater awareness in the community about the volume of criminal activity.
- Provided an opportunity for the community to fight back against crime.
- Improved relations between police, media and the community.
Peel Crime Stoppers has been accepted by police as a valid and effective partner. The public has embraced the program as a viable alternative to traditional methods of providing information.
Who Oversees the Crime Stoppers Program?
A Community Board of Volunteers oversees the program. Peel Crime Stoppers is a registered non-profit charitable organization. Crime Stoppers receives no government funding. All funds used to operate the Crime Stoppers program are obtained through charitable community donations.
