Fingerprints and Photographs for Criminal Charges

If you have been charged with a criminal offence, you are required to attend a fingerprint and photograph appointment as directed in your release documents. Learn where to go, what to bring, and what to expect during your appointment.

What to bring

✅ Government-issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license, passport, etc.)

✅ Release documents

✅ Court-issued paperwork

✅ Any additional documentation requested

What Happens During Your Appointment?

Check In

Arrive at the courthouse and check in for your appointment.

Verify Your Identity

Present your government-issued identification and release documents.

Fingerprint Collection

Your fingerprints will be captured electronically.

Photograph Taken

An identification photograph will be taken as part of the process.

Need fingerprinting for employment, immigration or other civil purposes?

Peel Regional Police does not provide fingerprinting services for non-criminal matters. Some RCMP-accredited providers offer these services.

Fingerprint and Photograph Destruction

If you were fingerprinted and photographed after being charged with an offence but were not convicted, you may be eligible to apply for the destruction of your fingerprints and photographs.
