Two Arrested, Two Outstanding in Violent Brampton Home Invasion and Shooting

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged two individuals in connection with a violent home invasion in Brampton that left two victims with gunshot wounds.
On Sunday, June 14, at approximately 4:30 a.m., five occupants were asleep inside a residence in the area of McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue West when three suspects forcibly entered the home through a rear glass door. A fourth suspect remained in a nearby vehicle. A confrontation occurred after the suspects encountered the occupants inside the residence.
During the incident, two occupants of the home suffered gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to hospital, where they received treatment and have since been released. They continue to recover from their injuries.
On July 15, investigators arrested two individuals. Javaunie Thomas, an 18-year-old man from Toronto, and a 16-year-old young person from Toronto, were each charged with:
- Attempted Murder Using Firearm
- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Fail to Comply with Sentence or Disposition (YCJA)
Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the 16-year-old accused is protected and cannot be released.
Both accused were held for bail hearings and remain in custody.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue efforts to identify and locate two outstanding suspects.
One suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 6'0" tall with a heavy build, who was armed with a handgun. The second outstanding suspect was the driver of the getaway vehicle. No description is available at this time.
