Turning Trust Into Action: Human Trafficking Rescue

Proactive policing is about being in the right place at the right time.

While serving a subpoena to a victim at a motel, two of our Human Trafficking investigators were told she was actively being exploited and that the suspect was in a neighbouring room with a rifle. Officers quickly mobilized resources, safely extracted the victim, and arrested the suspect.

Over the last several years, our Human Trafficking Unit has conducted more than 900 investigations, identified 178 victims, laid 767 charges, and charged over 200 accused.
