Traffic Stop Leads to Gun and Drug Seizure, Multiple Arrests
Region of Peel – Frontline officers from 12 Division have arrested two individuals, seized a loaded firearm and laid multiple charges following a traffic stop in Mississauga.
On Monday, April 27, at approximately 3:50 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Ambler Drive. As a result of further investigation, officers located a loaded illegal handgun, along with quantities of suspected cannabis and cocaine. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The driver, Tayshawn Cabell, a 19-year-old man from Toronto was on release at the time of his arrest for prior firearms-related offences and was prohibited from possessing weapons. He is charged with:
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order
- Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
- Fail to Comply with Release Order x2
The passenger, Abdul Issah, a 19-year-old man from Toronto is charged with:
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
