Peel Police Seize Drugs and Illegal Firearm Following Traffic Stop

Region of Peel – Frontline officers from 12 Division located a loaded firearm and have arrested four individuals following a traffic stop in Mississauga.

On Friday, March 6 at approximately 7 p.m., officers investigated a vehicle in the area of Mid-Way Boulevard and Dixie Road. During the investigation, officers observed the occupants to be in violations of the Cannabis Control Act and Controlled Drug and Substance Act. 

During the search of one of the accused, a loaded illegal handgun and a magazine containing ammunition were located.

As a result, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Iheem Mitchell, a 19-year-old man from Brampton

  • Possession of Substance - Schedule I 
  • Possession unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition 
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm)
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm 
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition 

A 16-year-old male from Toronto

  • Possession of Substance - Schedule I 
  • Possession unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition 
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm 
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition 
  • Carrying a concealed weapon 

A 16-year-old male from Toronto

  • Possession of Substance - Schedule I
  • Possession unauthorized firearm
  • Fail To Comply x2
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition 
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm 
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition 

A 16-year-old male from Toronto

  • Possession of Substance- Schedule I
  • Possession unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition 
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm 
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition 

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a young person; therefore, the identities of three individuals charged in this investigation are protected.
