Pedestrian Succumbs to Injuries Following 2025 Collision in Mississauga

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau (MCB) have upgraded charges against a tow truck driver after a pedestrian involved in a collision last year has died from his injuries.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 45-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a tow truck while crossing Rathburn Road East near Dixie Road in Mississauga. The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local trauma centre.

On March 24, 2026, Abner Zuniga, a 49-year-old Mississauga man, was charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm in relation to the collision.

On July 29, 2026, the victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

As a result, the accused’s charges were upgraded to Dangerous Operation Causing Death.
