Peel Regional Police Launch 2026 Road Safety Week with Increased Enforcement on Long Weekends

Region of Peel – As part of its ongoing commitment to road safety, Peel Regional Police is leading enhanced education and enforcement initiatives during Canada Road Safety Week, a national campaign led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP).

Observed from May 12 to 18, this year’s campaign theme is “Road Safety – Every Road. Every Day. Everyone.”  Throughout the week, officers from divisions across Mississauga and Brampton, supported by members of Road Safety Services, will conduct targeted education and enforcement initiatives focused on improving road safety throughout Peel Region.

Enforcement will focus on high‑risk behaviours that contribute to collisions and serious injuries, including offences under the Highway Traffic Act, distracted and aggressive driving, speeding, impaired driving, pedestrian safety, and commercial motor vehicle compliance.

In alignment with Canada Road Safety Week and the Victoria Day long weekend, Peel Regional Police will continue its year‑round impaired‑driving enforcement and education efforts as part of broader road safety operations across the region. These efforts support the service’s ongoing approach to preventing impaired driving and promoting safer choices behind the wheel.

The campaign also supports Peel Regional Police’s ongoing commitment to community safety and well-being through education, engagement, and visible enforcement in areas identified through traffic and collision data.

Drivers are reminded that their decisions behind the wheel impact not only themselves, but also passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other motorists sharing the road. Through increased awareness and enforcement, Peel Regional Police aims to reduce preventable collisions and encourage safer driving habits across the region.

To help keep roads safe, Peel Regional Police has launched a General Driving Concern Portal to make it easier for the public to share non‑emergency driving concerns that may impact road safety. If there is an immediate danger or an emergency, residents should call 911.

Residents are encouraged to follow Peel Regional Police social media channels throughout the week for road safety messaging, enforcement updates, and campaign information using #CRSW2026.
