Peel Regional Police help drive $42K for paediatric cancer research through Pedal for Hope

Peel Regional Police, in partnership with Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, raised more than $42,000 for paediatric cancer research and care for families through the Canadian Cancer Society’s Pedal for Hope campaign.

Over four days, more than 30 riders visited 11 schools across Peel. They spoke to groups of 200 to 900 students, helping raise awareness about paediatric cancer and sharing messages about strength and supporting each other.

“This initiative is about building connections as much as it is about fundraising, and it’s encouraging to see students engaging with officers while supporting kids affected by cancer,” said Jennifer Bissell, Charity Coordinator at Peel Regional Police.

The initiative was powered by volunteer officers and civilian members from across the service, including Community Safety and Well-Being, Road Safety Services, and the Community Intervention Response Team.

Strong school participation extended the campaign’s impact beyond fundraising, highlighting a shared commitment to supporting children and families affected by cancer. Pedal for Hope is part of the broader Cops for Cancer campaign, which continues to support communities across the region.
