Arrest Made in Contractor Fraud

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Fraud Bureau have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man from Toronto, in relation to a series of alleged renovation frauds in the Region of Peel. 

It is alleged that between April 2023 and November 2023, Trisztan Tarnoci, of TRT Masonry & General Contracting, signed three renovation contracts and collected deposits totaling $37,000. In every instance, Trisztan Tarnoci promised to provide a service, signed a contract, collected a deposit, and failed to provide said service or return the deposit. 

On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, investigators arrested and charged Trisztan Tarnoci with the following: 

  • Defrauding the Public
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

Investigators believe that more victims exist and are encouraging them to contact police.

Peel Regional Police would like to remind the public to be meticulous in vetting their contractors by asking for personal referrals, checking online reviews, and verifying their credentials.
