Update in 2nd Homicide of 2019

Region of Peel – On Thursday, February 14, 2019, just before 7:00 p.m. Peel Police began the investigation of the abduction of Riya Rajkumar. Later that night Riya was found deceased in a Brampton area home.

The investigation led to the arrest and charge of Riya’s father Roopesh Rajkumar for first degree murder. Mr. Rajkumar was transferred to a Toronto area trauma centre, due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Roopesh Rajkumar passed away this evening, Wednesday February 20, 2019 while a patient at the trauma centre. Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are continuing their investigation into the death of Riya Rajkumar.
