Important Trip Information

General Information for Grade 1, 2 & 3 Programs

  • The grade 1, 2 and 3 programs are approximately 1.5  hours per session. Classes are held 9:45am - 11:15am (AM session) or 12:00pm - 1:30pm (PM session). There is no charge for the program; however, the school is responsible for the cost of the bus.
  • There is a maximum of two classes, not to exceed 45 students, per session.
  • Parents and volunteers are more than welcome to attend; however, siblings and other children are not permitted.
  • No outside food or drinks are permitted on the premise.
  • If you have any students with special needs, please advise us prior to your visit so that we can accommodate their needs.
  • If the number of students attending changes, please advise us immediately 

 

Transportation for Grade 1, 2 & 3 Programs

First Student will be providing transportation to and from the Safety Village for the 2016/2017 school year. Safety Village staff will book your bus; however, the school is responsible for the payment. 

The school will be billed directly for the bus. The cost of the bus for the 2016/2017 school year is as follows:

Brampton/Mississauga: $133.55 (including taxes)
Orangeville/Bolton: $207.02 (including taxes)

Bus Pick Up Time:  9:00 am (AM session) or 11:15 am (PM session)
Note: Pick up time may changed due to location of school.

You will receive a confirmation from First Student approximately two weeks prior to your visit. If you do not receive a confirmation, please contact them at 1-866-652-4352 ext 3002.

Please note that maximum seating capacity for each bus is 55 patrons including adults. 

 

Grade 1 Community Helpers/9-1-1 Program

As part of this program, students will have the opportunity to do a thumb print activity which will be sent home with the teachers. The Peel Children's Safety Village does NOT keep any prints.

 

Grade 2: Personal Safety/Pedestrian Safety

Children should be dressed appropriately for the outside portion of the program, including proper footwear. Outdoor program does not operate in snow or rain.

In order for your class to participate in the outdoor portion of the program, we require a minimum of 1 chaperone per 5 students. If you are unable to provide a suitable number of chaperones your class may not be able to ride the miniature jeeps.

Please ensure that your chaperones DO NOT bring additional children with them that are not part of the class. Chaperones will be required to monitor and assist with supervising the outdoor Village activities. 

 

Grade 3: Personal Safety/Bicycle Safety

Children should be dressed appropriately for the outside portion of the program, including proper footwear. Outdoor program does not operate in snow or rain.

In order for students to participate in the bicycle portion of the program, they must bring their own bicycle helmet. We will be inspecting the helmets upon arrival. 

Students who do not bring a helmet, or whose helmet does not pass inspection will not be permitted to ride the bicycles. These students will still be able to participate in the other portions of the program. 

Please note: There will be no sharing of helmets due to health and safety concerns.

Please see the "Check Your Bicycle Helmet" guide which outlines the criteria we will be looking for when inspecting helmets. 

  

General Information for Grade 5 Program

  • The grade 5 program runs from 9:45am to 1:30 pm. This is an indoor program, with a break for lunch. There is no charge for the program; however, the school is responsible for the cost of the bus.
  • There is a maximum of two classes, not to exceed 50 students, per session.
  • Students are required to bring:
    • Litterless Lunch
    • Earphones/Headphones
    • Socks
  • Teachers must bring a class list and present it to the officer upon arrival. This list will be used for distribution of iPads to students. 
  • Nothing other than earphones is permitted in the "Cool Zone" (ie. no gum, food, drinks, bags).
  • No shoes are permitted in the "Cool Zone".
  • Lunch will be eaten in the classroom. Students and teachers are responsible for cleanup of classroom after lunch. Litterless lunches are strongly recommended.

Orangeville/Bolton: $243.74 (including taxes)

Student Conduct

The appropriate rules of conduct expected at school also apply at the Peel Children's Safety Village. Your visit is expected to be a fun learning experience. Students are to follow safe practices during all activities.
