23rd Annual Elmer Safety Recognition Awards

Nominations are now being accepted. Each child in Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) from junior kindergarten through to grade eight, is eligible for an award. Children who assisted their classmates, parents or friends, and have performed at a level beyond expectation, are eligible. We are seeking children who, in the past year, showed heroic behavior or performed extraordinary acts of citizenship. 

As many as ten children will receive an award during the ceremony, which is being held at the Peel Children's Safety Village on Saturday, May 6th, 2017.  All winners will receive a corporate sponsored trophy and a certificate from Peel Regional Police.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 5th, 2017.  If you know of a deserving child that you wish to nominate, please contact Christie Hallett at (905) 453-2121, ext 4071, or by email at safetyvillage@peelpolice.ca.

Pedestrian Pedal Power Days (P3 Days)

This summer the Peel Children's Safety Village will be open to the public for Pedestrian Pedal Power Days on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, July 18th, 2017
  • Tuesday, July 25th, 2017
  • Tuesday, August 8th, 2017
  • Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

Officers will review key safety rules, including hand signals and pedestrian safety, before your child takes a tour of our miniature village. The outdoor portion includes riding the jeeps or bicycles and participating in a walk through our village.

MORNING SESSION - Grades JK through Grade 2.

Sessions with jeeps will run from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.


Sessions with bikes will run from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

.Please note that we have limited bikes and encourage children to bring their own to ensure they are able to participate. Children MUST bring their own helmet in order to ride a bike.
