Tell me and I'll forget; Show me and I may remember; Involve me and I will understand.

That is the philosophy behind the Peel Children's Safety Village, an innovative community project that was launched in 1994.

The Safety Village aims to reduce the alarming rate of preventable traffic accidents, the leading cause of death for children aged one to nine.

Until recently, the only place to formally teach elementary school children about safety was the classroom. The Safety Village gives youngsters a facility where they can practice the safety rules they've learned at school and at home.
