Application Process

  • Meet minimum qualifications to apply
  • Submit online application 
  • Upon receipt and review of the online application, competitive applicants will be contacted to attend a Local Focus Assessment/Interview when a date is available

Selection Process

If you are deemed competitive after the LFA, the following is a list of stages throughout the selection process which can be conducted at any time throughout:

  • In-depth interview with a Recruitment & Staff Support Bureau Investigator for competitive applicants
  • Interview with a Recruitment & Staff Support Bureau Supervisor
  • Competency Assessment Tests
  • Results of Competency Assessment are submitted to our psychologist and you will be required to meet with our contracted psychologist
  • Thorough background investigation that includes:
    • Check with local, provincial and international law enforcement agencies
    • all educational institutions attended
    • driving history though the Ministry of Transportation
    • credit and financial related inquiries
    • personal and work references
  • Home interview
  • Pre-employment physical assessment (PREP & PIN)
  • Final employment review with a panel of Senior Officers
  • Medical examination
  • Uniform fitting
  • Offer of employment

Local Focus Assessment/Interview Process Information

The Local Focus Assessment consists of: a written assessment of general knowledge and community awareness, the Pre-Background Questionnaire, and in addition, an assessment interview with a Recruitment & Staff Support Officer on their scheduled LFA date.

Applicants failing to attend on their selected Local Focus Assessment/Interview date, without prior notification, must wait a minimum of six (6) months to re-apply.

Re-Applying

Applicants deemed non-competitive at any stage of the recruiting process will be notified by email.  Re-applications may be made after the time restriction outlined in the closure notification email expires.  The number of applications is not limited, providing it is within the prescribed time parameters.  Personal, professional and/or educational improvement is desirable and expected between applications.
