Arrest Made Following Six Armed Grocery Store Robberies

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged one person in connection to a series of six armed grocery store robberies throughout Brampton and Vaughan.

It is alleged that between May 4, 2023, and May 19, 2023, the suspect attended five grocery stores in the City of Brampton and one in the City of Vaughan. 

During each robbery, the suspect, wearing a disguise to conceal his identity, entered the stores, indicated he was armed with a gun and demanded money. Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained by any of the victims working at the time.

On May 19, 2023, following two robberies in Brampton, police identified the suspect. He was located and arrested near Father Tobin Drive and Torbram Road in Brampton. At the time of his arrest, the suspect had property related to the offences in his possession. 

Dylan GOPAUL, a 27-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences: 

· Robbery X6

· Wearing a Disguise with Intent X6

On May 20, 2023, Dylan GOPAUL appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing.  

This remains an ongoing investigation, and investigators anticipate they may lay further charges.
