With multiple arrests, seized firearms, and numerous charges laid, the dangers posed by illegal firearms are clear. These incidents also highlight the urgent need for bail reform to prevent repeat offences and ensure lasting consequences for those who threaten public safety. We extend our gratitude to the Ministry of the Solicitor General for their invaluable support, which makes critical initiatives like this possible,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah

S.T.E.P. was first introduced in 2007 through funding and support from the Government of Ontario. In 2022, Peel Regional Police received a further financial commitment of $1.5 million over three years from the Government of Ontario through the Gun and Gang strategy to enhance public safety by reducing gun and gang activity within the cities of Mississauga and Brampton.
