Man Arrested with Firearms While on Firearm Prohibition
Region of Peel – Officers from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a Brampton man with firearm-related offences while on a ten-year weapons prohibition order.
On March 24, 2023, at 2:38 am, Peel Regional Police responded to a residence in the area of Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard in the City of Brampton for a medical-related incident.
While assisting Peel Paramedics, Police located 3 rifle-style shotguns within the residence.
Investigators executed a Criminal Code search warrant for the residence.
Tyler Devarenne, a 26-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. He was charged with the following criminal code offences:
- Possession of firearm (Contrary to Order)
- Unauthorised possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorised possession of firearm x2
- Careless use or storage x2
- Tampering with serial number
- Unauthorised possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Police seized a Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun, a .22 calibre Ranger rifle, a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun and a Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun. At the time of his arrest Tyler Devarenne was bound by a ten-year weapons prohibition as a result of an aggravated assault.
