Charges Laid in Human Trafficking Investigation

Region of Peel– Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau, Vice and Human Trafficking Unit, have charged a man after a human trafficking investigation involving a victim from the Region of Peel.

In September 2021, an investigation commenced into allegations that an 18-year-old woman was being trafficked within the sex trade by the suspect, who exercised control over aspects of the victim’s life and profited financially from it between August 2017 and March 2019.

On October 18, 2021 Ross Henderson, a 59-year-old man from the City of Mississauga, was charged with the following offences: 

  • Trafficking in Persons
  • Receiving Benefit Resulting from Trafficking in Persons
  • Material Benefit from Sexual Services
  • Exercise Control
  • Sexual Assault
  • Assault

Ross Henderson was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in answer to the charges.
