Loaded Firearm Seized - Mississauga Youth Charged

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau - Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team and the 11 Division Bicycle Unit arrested and charged a 17-year-old Mississauga youth with numerous firearm related offences.  

On Friday, September 9, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., investigators from the STEP team, with the assistance from officers of the 11 Division Bicycle Unit investigated a large group of people that had congregated in the area of The Collegeway and Hornbeam Crescent in the City of Mississauga. Officers seized a loaded Ruger handgun, fitted with an overcapacity magazine.

As a result, a 17-year-old male youth from Mississauga, was arrested and charged with numerous firearm related charges. He was held pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2022.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
