Vaughan Man Charged with Firearm Related Offences

Region of Peel – Officers from the Peel Regional Police Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Program (STEP) have charged a Vaughan man with Firearm-related offences after investigating a vehicle and occupant in Brampton. 

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers from STEP investigated a 38-year-old man in a vehicle in the area of Harper Road and Abbey Road in the City of Brampton. 

As a result, officers seized a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun and an extended magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition. Kamau Edwards, a 38-year-old man from Vaughan was arrested and charged with the following offences: 

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 

Kamau Edwards was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
