Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Loaded Firearm
Region of Peel – Patrol officers from 21 Division located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Brampton.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at approximately 10:26 a.m., 21 Division Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Park Drive and Mackay Street, in Brampton. An investigation into the vehicle and driver resulted in police locating a loaded 45 calibre Smith & Wesson handgun.
As a result, a 17-year-old youth from Brampton was arrested and charged with the following firearm related offences:
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
The youth was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
