Loaded Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop

Region of Peel -  Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau charged a 22-year-old man from Oshawa.

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 1:09 a.m., 12 Division uniformed officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Anson Drive and Torbram Road in Mississauga. The driver was investigated under the Cannabis Control Act which resulted in the seizure of a Glock semi-automatic handgun.

 Rodrico Vassell is charged with the following offences:

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
• Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
• Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
