Search Warrant Results in Seizure of Firearms and Drugs

Region of Peel – The collaboration between the Peel Regional Police Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing Team (STEP) and the 22 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) has resulted in the arrest of two individuals on multiple counts of firearm and drug-related offences. 

The Peel Regional Police STEP Team commenced a lengthy investigation concerning ongoing drug and firearm offences within the Region of Peel. On February 20, 2024, multiple search warrants resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of two loaded firearms, ammunition, Fentanyl, Cocaine, and other Opioids. 

A man from Brampton, Lamar Boreland, was charged with the following offences; 

  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized 
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 
  • Two counts of careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime 
  • Four counts of possession of firearm contrary to release order 
  • Four counts of drug-related offences for the purpose of trafficking

A Female from Toronto, Lanique Brown, was charged with the following offences; 

  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized 
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 
  • Two counts of careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition 
  • Three counts of drug-related offences for the purpose of trafficking

Both parties were held for bail hearings; Lamar Boreland was out of custody on other release orders.
