Traffic Stop Results in a Firearm Seizure
Region of Peel – Officers from the Peel Regional Police 12 Division Uniform Patrol with the assistance of the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 27-year-old man with firearm related offences.
On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:15 a.m., officers from 12 Division uniform patrol investigated a vehicle in the area of Torbram Road and Derry Road East, in the City of Mississauga.
As a result, officers seized a Bersa Thunder 380 firearm.
Osman Sillah was charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm, Contrary to Order
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
At the time of his arrest, Osman Sillah was on a Release Order for similar firearm offences.
