Arrests Made in Series of Robberies

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged five young persons and one man in relation to several retail robberies in the City of Mississauga and a financial robbery that occurred in the City of Brampton.

From late January 2020, until late March 2020, the suspects were involved in robbing various retail businesses including hotels, motels, pharmacies and other commercial businesses in Mississauga. The suspects were brandishing knives and guns to force employees to hand over money and property at which time they would leave the area in vehicles, which are believed to be stolen. None of the victims sustained any physical injuries.

On March 31, 2020, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau located and arrested the suspects who were in possession of a stolen vehicle and other robbery related property.  

A 22-year-old man from Mississauga was charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and he was released on an undertaking and will attend the Brampton Ontario Court of Justice in June of 2020.

A 17-year-old male youth from Kitchener was charged with 25 criminal offences including seven counts of Robbery, seven counts of Wear Disguise with Intent, five counts of Use Imitation Firearm, five counts of Breach Recognizance and one count of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000. He was held for a bail hearing.

Another 17-year-old male youth from Kitchener was charged with 11 criminal offences including four counts of Robbery, four counts of Wear Disguise with Intent, two counts of Use Imitation Firearm and one count of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000. He was held for a bail hearing.

A 16-year-old male youth from Brampton was charged with 19 criminal offences including five counts of Robbery, five counts of Wear Disguise with Intent, four counts of Use Imitation Firearm, four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation and one count of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000. He was held for a bail hearing.

A 16-year old female youth from Brampton was charged with Robbery and Wear Disguise with Intent. She was released on an undertaking and will have her first court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in May of 2020.

 

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.

This investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be pending.
