Man Charged in Violent Sexual Assault Investigation

 Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit have arrested and charged Philip Gray, a 30-year-old man concerning a sexual assault investigation. 

On Thursday, January 12, 2023, the victim was in the area of Queen Street and Kennedy Road in Brampton when the victim met with the suspect. It is alleged that the suspect forcefully confined the victim in a nearby building where he physically and sexually assaulted her. A weapon was used in the sexual assault. The victim suffered significant injuries.  

A short time later, officers arrested and charged Phillip Gray with the following offences:  

  • Sexual Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Strangulation
  • Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Utter Threats to Cause Death 
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2 

Phillip Gray was already on two prior Release Orders from the courts for violent offences.

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
