Arrests Made in Series of Financial and Retail Robberies

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged two men and three young persons in relation to two financial robberies and a retail robbery which occurred in the City of Toronto and City of Mississauga.

On Monday, February 3, 2020, at 5:55 p.m., armed suspects wearing masks, attempted to enter a financial institution in the City of Toronto, however it was locked.   The suspects fled in a white Kia Forte that had been previously stolen as a result of a warm-up theft in the City of Brampton.

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at 4:25 p.m., the same two suspects entered another financial institution in the City of Mississauga, wearing the same disguise and again, armed with a firearm.  The suspects vaulted the counter and confronted the employees, demanding money.  The suspects exited with a quantity of cash and entered into the stolen white Kia Forte and fled the area.

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at 5:20 p.m. the same suspects entered a retail location in Mississauga, brandishing a black firearm.  The suspects vaulted the counter while pointing the firearm at staff members.  The suspects stole a variety of tobacco, vape products and cash.  Once again, the suspects fled in the stolen white Kia Forte.

Investigators of the Central Robbery Bureau were able to locate the suspects who were in possession of the stolen vehicle, a loaded firearm and robbery related property.  The arrested parties were charged with various Possession of Stolen Property, Robbery and Firearm related charges.

An 18-year-old man from Brampton was charged with Accessory After the Fact, Weapons Dangerous, Fail to Comply with Order and several firearm related offences. He attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on February 8, 2020 for a bail hearing.

An 18-year-old man from Brampton was charged with possession of Stolen Property, he was released on a promise to appear. He will have his first court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in March of 2020.

A 15-year-old male youth from Toronto and a 16-year old male youth from Toronto were both charged with two counts of Robbery, two counts of Disguise with Intent, Weapons Dangerous, Fail to Comply with Order  and several firearm related offences.

A 16-year-old male youth from Mississauga was charged with Weapons Dangerous, Breach of Release Order and several firearm related offences.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
