Arrest Made in Mississauga Shooting

Region of Peel – Investigators from Peel Regional Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at 11 Division have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a shooting incident in the City of Mississauga.

On Friday, May 17, 2019, at 10:32pm, an altercation took place in the parking lot of an establishment, in the area of Burnhamthorpe Road and Wolfedale Road in the City of Mississauga.

The suspect became engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, who was also at the establishment, which then escalated to the point where the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots at a man and woman. The victims did not sustain any injuries as a result of the shots fired.

Investigators identified the suspect as 26-year-old Thutop Phuntsok, a resident of the City of Toronto and a warrant was issued for various firearm offences.

On November 25, 2019, the suspect surrendered to police. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 26, 2019, in answer to the charges.
