Arrest Made in Fatal Stabbing in Mississauga

Region of Peel – Officers from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have arrested a 17-year-old male youth in relation to a fatal stabbing that occurred in Mississauga.

On January 25, 2022, at 6:36 p.m., police received a call to check on the wellbeing of a male in the area Roche Court in the City of Mississauga. Upon arrival, police located a 41-year-old Mississauga man, Mohamed Ahmed, suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was transported to a trauma centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

On January 26, 2022, police arrested a 17-year-old male youth and charged him with First Degree Murder. In answer to this charge, he is being held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Police believe this was an unprovoked attack on an innocent victim, and they are not looking for any further suspects.

“This was a random act of violence which has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our community.  Our service offers sincere condolences to Mohamed Ahmed’s family and loved ones and will continue to do everything we can to support them and our community as they grieve”, said Nick Milinovich, Deputy Chief of Investigative and Emergency Services.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
